What it does
Scatter starting positions across the ground while keeping roughly regular spacing. A jittered square anchor begins with a grid and moves each point away from its grid position.
Set Scale for the spacing, then add a little Jitter distance, the maximum random displacement, until the rows disappear. Connect Output to Grid Template Placement with a Vertical Terrain Locator to find the ground height.
Inputs and outputs
| Name | Type | Default | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inputs | |||
| Scale | Real | 16.0 · 1–2147483647 | Higher values spread the grid positions further apart. |
| Jitter distance | Real | 6.0 · 0–2147483647 | Higher values allow each point to wander further, in blocks. |
| Jitter seed | Integer | 1 | Changes the random displacement pattern. |
| Output | |||
| Output | Placement anchor | Horizontal starting positions, before a locator chooses their height. | |
Good to know
Keep the wander smaller than the spacing
Large displacements let neighbouring positions overlap. Reduce Jitter distance if trees bunch together; the anchor does not enforce a minimum distance.
