What it does
Join a shape to the ground with a rounded seam. Like Maximum, Smooth Maximum adds solid shapes together, but fills the corner where their densities are close.
Connect the terrain to A and the added shape to B. Start with a small Range, then widen it while watching the join. The rounding can add a little ground beyond either original surface.
On noise
The same noise before and after this node, seen from above.

In 3D
The same output in relief: each value becomes a height, coloured like the map above. Drag to look around.
Inputs and outputs
| Name | Type | Default | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inputs | |||
| A | Density | The first density to join. | |
| B | Density | The second density to join. | |
| Range | Real | 1.0 · ≥ 0 | Higher values round a wider part of the join, measured in density values. |
| Output | |||
| Output | Density | The maximum with extra rounding near the join. | |
Good to know
Tune against the actual surface
The rounding width is measured in density values. If you amplify either input, check the join again rather than expecting the same width in blocks.
