Getting started

From your invite to your own world on your server.

You need Minecraft Java Edition, your Massif beta invite, and, for the last step, a Paper or Minestom server you can add a plugin or library to.

1. Create your account

Open the link in your invite email. It fills in your invite code; choose a display name, your email and a password of at least twelve characters. Your display name is what the people you build with will see.

2. Install Massif Studio

Download the modpack from Downloads and import it into Prism Launcher or the Modrinth App: it sets up the right Minecraft version, Fabric and Massif Studio in one go. Already manage your own Fabric mods? Take the mod on its own instead. Install Studio has the details for each launcher.

3. Log in from Minecraft

Start Minecraft and press G (or the Massif button on the title screen). Studio opens your browser on the link page and shows you a code like BCDF-GH23. Type that code on the page, check it’s the one in Minecraft, and press Link Studio.

Back in Minecraft, Studio downloads its preview engine the first time (a one-time download, then it starts in seconds) and drops you into your world.

4. Make it yours

Press New project and pick a starter world. A short checklist appears in the corner to walk you through the basics:

  1. Change the terrain: raise the peaks or flatten the valleys and watch the land regenerate around you.
  2. Change a biome: swap a forest for a desert, or freeze the mountains.
  3. Export: turn your world into a file your server can use.

You can close the checklist any time and reopen it from the toolbar.

Studio basics covers the workspace and previews; Nodes and networks explains how the graph builds your world.

5. Export and download

Press Export. Massif signs your world so servers know it’s genuine, then Studio tells you it’s ready. Open your account and download it: you get a .massif file named after your project.

6. Put it on your server

Follow the guide for your server:

  • Paper: drop in the plugin and your .massif file, add three lines to bukkit.yml. Paper guide.
  • Minestom: add the library to your build and a few lines of code. Minestom guide.

Players join with the normal game. Nobody but you needs Massif.
